French Morning Light

20" by 20" oil on canvas

This painting is inspired by a reference photo I took during my French artist residency. I wanted to create a still life that incorporated a landscape, with the French countryside visible in the distance. Because it was an overcast day, I had to wait about an hour for the sun to emerge from behind the clouds and fall across the jug and fruit.
