Dusty's Chair

This painting was created during my artist residency in Orquevaux, France. I was fortunate to have Dusty, the resident cat, pose for me for a brief moment so I could capture a reference photo. Unfortunately, I had to wake him from his afternoon nap for the occasion, so he was less than impressed with me! 

This painting also holds a special place in my heart because it was the first painting I had created in a long time that wasn’t a still life. After spending so much time focused on still life painting, it was refreshing to step outside of my usual subject matter and paint something completely different. It also evokes such fond memories of my time at the artist residency in Orquevaux, France.
